The institution that Half Moon is partnering with for the Pack for a Purpose program is the Barrett Town All Age School which is located in a small community called Barrett Town in the parish of St. James, Jamaica. It has a student population of three hundred and thirty students that are mostly from the lower and lower middle socio-economic class of the Jamaican society. The school is owned and operated by the Government of Jamaica through the Ministry of Education but can easily be described as a resource poor institution given that most students through their parents are only able to afford a single notebook at a time which lasts just a little more than a week or shorter especially at the higher grade levels. The school has to supplement the supplies for the students but because of the lack of resources it is common for a pencil for example to be cut in two pieces to be shared for students. The current staff population of thirteen teachers are dedicated to the job of educating the students and would welcome donations of school supplies that would include notebooks, pencils pens, erasers, crayons, rulers etc. View instructions on "How to Pack for a Purpose".
